Two men have been sentenced for violent disorder during far-right inspired riots in Bolton, where they launched a wheelie bin at police officers.
Marcus Foster, 24, and Stephen Barrow, 54, were involved in disturbances in Bolton on August 4, leading to violence against police who were attempting to disperse the crowd.
Both men were captured on CCTV throwing objects, including a large wheelie bin, at officers. They pleaded guilty to violent disorder at Bolton Crown Court.
Prosecutor Duncan Wilcock highlighted that the protests were linked to recent stabbings in Southport and involved groups identified as far-right in ideology.
Judge Martin Walsh sentenced Foster to three years and Barrow to 28 months in prison, emphasizing the serious nature of their actions amid the riots.
